"I Am" Program

The "I Am" program is run in schools on the Sunshine Coast as an After School activity. Currently a 6 week program, the course aims to enhance self-esteem and confidence in children aged 7-10yrs. Using a combination of Energy Routine, group discussion, games, sharing and meditation, this program gives children a safe place to explore who they are and how they interact with others.

Each session goes for one hour and a set of notes are sent home to parents to they always know what has been covered. There are no religious references - this is a course of self-discovery. The participants learn valuable skills that they can appply to all areas of their life.

Here's what some of the children have said:

I learnt that if someone calls me a name it's actually about them

It's awesome! You get to play games and learn about other people.

I loved the balloons. I use them when I need them for everything I'm nervous about.

It helped me to be more confident.

Here's what some of the parents have said:

It's an interesting and positive approach for kids to show them things about themselves and other kids around them.

M tries to be more patient now and listens when others speak.

She always relfects back at her day and says what could have been done differently and what she's proud of.

It is a good way to develop their emotional intelligence.
